| Wow. Just wow.
Thirty years ago, my folks got married at The Colonnade, and when it came time to look for a venue, we thought we would take a look. We had pretty well decided on another venue (at a Hotel on the Harbor, in Boston), but needed to make sure we were making the right decision, and wanted another point of comparison.
Enter Danielle Gensler, one of the nicest, most personable and professional hotel wedding contacts you could hope for. Unlike the other folks we'd met, she made it very clear that our wedding was important to her and the hotel, and that they would be as accomodating as possible, because our business was important to them. That was refreshing!
From contract signing though the planning and tasting, we were simply blown away by the attentiveness of Danielle and the rest of the hotel's staff, and without going into detail, they made us (and our families) feel very welcome at the hotel, even after we had signed our contract.
We were especially impressed with Chef Nicholas Calais, who went completely off-book in helping us put together our menu, and whose work is still being talked about by our guests. We're now groupies of his, and would be happy to share pictures of his work. We can't possibly say enough good things.
The Colonnade only schedules one major event per day, and we had the run of the place on the day of our wedding - which in our case meant ceremony in one room, cocktails at the pool on the roof, and our reception in the main ballroom. When the weather threatened our plans, Danielle and Chef Nick changed things up so that we could still have cocktails on the roof, and an extended hors d'oeuvre inside. They didn't miss a beat.
We are so grateful for the efforts of Danielle, Chef Nick, and the rest of The Colonnade staff, and would be happy to tell you more about our experience - just ask Danielle for our contact info |
